Premium Link Servers

Mirror and translate a channel with a channel of another Discord server

Premium Link Servers connects a channel of your server with channels living in different Discord servers. Every message posted in one participating channel is mirrored into all the others and translated into each one's language.

It is the cross-server counterpart of Link Channels and Premium Link Channels, which link channels inside the same server.

  • A link is a set of participants. There is no owner server and no primary side.

  • One participant = one channel, in one server, with one language.

  • A link holds 2 servers or more. When it drops below 2 participants, it is deleted automatically.

  • One channel per server per link, and a channel can only ever belong to one link.

  • Every server taking part in a link must use a different language.

  • A forum channel can only be linked with another forum channel, and vice versa: a link is either all-forum or all-non-forum.

  • Linkable channel types: text, announcement (news), voice, stage, and forum channels. Voice and stage channels use their Discord text-in-voice chat.

Requirements and permissions

You need Manage Server, Manage Channels and Manage Messages in both servers to change a link. You must be a moderator of both servers — Manage Server, Manage Channels and Manage Messages. Discord enforces it on the server where the command is run; the bot checks the other server itself, and refuses if you are not even a member of it.

The bot needs all of these in each linked channel, on both sides:

  • View Channel

  • Read Message History

  • Send Messages

  • Manage Webhooks

  • Embed Links

  • Send Messages in Threads and Posts

Characters and billing

This is the part most likely to be misunderstood, so here it is plainly:

Slash commands

The /premium linkservers group — Commands to link channels of different servers together — is restricted by Discord to members holding Manage Server + Manage Channels + Manage Messages on the server where the command is run.

/premium linkservers add

/premium linkservers add [channel] [target_channel_id] [language] [target_language]
OptionDescription
channelThe channel of this server to link
target_channel_idThe ID of the channel of the other server to link
languageThe language of the channel of this server
target_languageThe language of the channel of the other server

Three possible outcomes — you do not choose, the bot decides based on what is already linked:

  1. Neither channel is linked → a new link is created with those two servers.

  2. The target channel already belongs to a link → your server joins that link. Your language must not already be used in it, and target_language must be the language that channel already uses in it.

  3. Your channel already belongs to a link → the other server joins your link. Its target_language must be free in it, and language must be the language your channel already uses.

If both channels are already linked, the command refuses: either they are already in the same link, or they belong to two different links and one of them has to be removed first.

Slash command

/premium linkservers add

/premium linkservers remove

/premium linkservers remove [channel]
OptionDescription
channelThe channel of this server to unlink

A moderator can only remove their own server's channel. Removing a participant from a two-server link deletes the whole link for both sides.

Slash command

/premium linkservers remove

/premium linkservers list

No options. Shows every link this server takes part in, paginated, one block per link (Link 1, Link 2, …). Each block lists every participant as server name — channel — language, including the servers other than yours.

Slash command

/premium linkservers list

Command localization

The command group, the subcommands and every option name and description are translated into the 30 locales Discord supports. A French client sees /premium serveurs_liés ajouter, a Japanese one /premium 連携サーバー 追加. The command always appears in your own Discord language — the English names above are the canonical reference.

Walkthrough

Server A wants its #general (French) linked with server B's #general-en (English). Server C joins later with #allgemein (German).

  1. A moderator of both A and B runs, from A: /premium linkservers add channel:#general target_channel_id:<B's #general-en ID> language:french target_language:english

  2. The link now has two participants. A message in A's #general appears translated in B's #general-en, and the other way round.

  3. A moderator of both C and B (or C and A) runs, from C: /premium linkservers add channel:#allgemein target_channel_id:<B's #general-en ID> language:german target_language:english target_language must be english, because that is the language B's channel already uses in the link. C joins the existing link instead of creating a second one.

  4. /premium linkservers list on any of the three servers now shows all three participants.

  5. If A runs /premium linkservers remove channel:#general, B and C stay linked together, and both are notified that A left.

Behaviour

  • Every message is translated. Unlike the reverse and channel-language features, there is no language detection and no language whitelist: the source language is always the one configured for that channel in the link.

  • Edits and deletions propagate to the mirrored messages in the other servers.

  • Threads and forum posts are mirrored. Creating a thread (or a forum post) in a linked channel creates the matching thread in the linked channels of the other servers; renames, archiving, locking and deletion follow.

  • The other participants are notified when a server joins or leaves one of their links — a message in each linked channel naming the server, its channel and its language. Forum channels are skipped, because a forum webhook can only post inside a post.

  • Low-characters alerts reach your partners. When a server runs low, every server sharing a link with it is warned in its own alert channel. Partners are never told the figures, only that translations may stop; only the affected server sees its own numbers.

  • Priority over the other link features. A linked channel is handled by Link Servers before anything else, and it always matches.

Mutual exclusion with the other link features

All three add commands refuse the overlap and name the command to run first:

  • /premium linkservers add refuses a channel used by linkchannels or premium linkchannels — on either side of the link. When it is the other server's channel, only a moderator of that server can free it.

  • /linkchannels add and /premium linkchannels add refuse a channel already in a Link Servers link, and point at /premium linkservers remove.

In the dashboard

Path: sidebar → Features → Premium Link Servers (/guilds/<server-id>/features/premium-linkservers).

The page is only reachable while the server has Premium characters left or an unlimited plan — otherwise the dashboard redirects back to the server overview.

The page has three parts: an information banner, Current links, and Link a new channel.

  1. Open the dashboard and select your server.

  2. In the sidebar, click Premium Link Servers under Features.

  3. Under Link a new channel, pick Channel of this server.

  4. Pick Language of this channel — messages from the other servers are translated into it.

  5. Pick Other server.

  6. Pick Channel of the other server (enabled once a server is chosen).

  7. Pick Language of that channel — messages from your server are translated into it.

  8. Click Create the link.

The Create the link button stays disabled until the form is valid, and the reason is displayed just above it.

What the page shows you

  • Channels of your server already used by Link Channels or Premium Link Channels are listed but greyed out, with an orange badge naming the feature holding them. Free the channel in that feature first.

  • Channels of your server already in a link are not listed at all.

  • A target channel already belonging to a link carries a purple "Joins a link" badge. Selecting it means joining that existing link rather than creating a pair — the page then shows a notice with the link number and the languages already used in it, pre-fills and locks the target language, and removes the already-taken languages from your own language dropdown.

  • The Other server list is best-effort: the bot does not cache every member of every server, so a server you really moderate may be missing. Invite the bot there and confirm your three permissions.

  • Target channels used by another link feature on their own server, or already linked with one of your channels, are simply absent from the list — there is nothing to act on.

Each link appears as a card titled Link #1, Link #2, … with a badge showing how many servers take part. Every participant is one row: server name, channel, language.

ChannelDescription
This serverChange the Channel, the Language, or both, then click Apply. A trash icon removes it from the link.
Other serverRead-only and greyed out. A tooltip explains that only a moderator of that server can change it.
  • Changing the channel and the language at once is a single operation — set both selects, then click Apply once.

  • Apply stays disabled until something actually differs from the saved values.

  • The channel dropdown offers only channels not already in a link, and only channels matching the link's kind (a forum link accepts forum channels only).

  • The language dropdown hides languages already taken by the other servers of that link.
